We strongly believe that people are important to God and therefore are important to the church.  Our core values are to show that same love, care, and kindness, friendliness, and patience that He does.  Our desire is to help build families and relationships that are God - centered and God - influenced.

From Sunday morning worship and Sunday school to Bible studies, Gothenburg First United Methodist Church is focused on helping you to experience how God's love and grace can change your life.

Family Matters

(formerly known as Sunday School)

Family Matters is the new Sunday School, where food, fun, faith, fellowship, and family time will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm at the church. This will begin on Wednesday Sept. 4th and the whole family is invited and will be involved in the evening.  We will eat together from 6 to 6:30 pm, worship together from 6:30 to 6:45, and then break into small groups from 6:45 until 8:00 pm according to age: pre-k through 5th grade; 6th-8th grade; 9th-12th grade; and adult.  Many amazing people from our church will cook and serve the food, lead worship and music, and provide fun and learning in the small groups. WHAT AN AMAZING EVENT TO BE A PART OF!

With church doors all over the nation closing to help "flatten the curve" of the COVID-19 pandemic, now is the perfect time to show others that the church is not the building...but people.

Please watch the worship video  for Sunday May 31, 2020 that has been prepared for you. There will be prayers, scripture reading, a message from Pastor Jamie and music from our awesome praise band. We hope that, even though we can't worship in person with one another right now, that you still are fulfilled  by the word of God in this way.
