During the month of October 2025, we encouraged the congregation to be Changemakers. In a world where we are made to feel complacent, we are challenged to find the courage and boldness to be the CHANGE!
The Changemaker Initiative catalyzes people to put their faith into action. We provide training programs for lay people and church leaders to equip them to make social change in their workplaces, neighborhoods, schools, and communities. Our curriculum includes reflection, discernment, empathetic listening, design thinking, and spiritual practices. We develop compassion-driven changemakers like Jesus, who are willing to risk something big for something good.

It's almost the end of the school semester when we (congregation) have sent a care package or gift card to the students to give them encouragement during their final weeks of the semester; which usually entails lots of tests and papers. Anyone wanting to donate to care package, contact Lynnette, Karen or Church Office (308) 537-2560. We have 13 college students this year!

The Changemaker Series
We strongly believe that people are important to God and therefore are important to the church. Our core values are to show that same love, care, and kindness, friendliness, and patience that He does. Our desire is to help build families and relationships that are God - centered and God - influenced.
From Sunday morning worship and Sunday school to Bible studies, Gothenburg First United Methodist Church is focused on helping you to experience how God's love and grace can change your life.
We have a live stream each Sunday Morning at 9:30 am on our Facebook page, which you can watch here. If you are not comfortable joining us in person, we would love to have you in a virtual setting.
